Kelly & David – A St. Augustine, FL Wedding

The weather forecast was ominous – Tropical Storm Beryl was heading for Northeast Florida.  And she was going to make her appearance during Kelly and David’s wedding.  Heavy rains, gusty winds, and threatening gray skies were going to be a big part of their wedding day memories.  But, when love is as thick in the air as the humidity, the weather becomes a mere footnote to the day.

Kelly and David have that special “something” – the  kind of love that trumps everything.  Fun, spontaneous, joyous…I could go on and on in describing the personality of their love, but in one simple moment I saw it unfold perfectly.  After their sweet ceremony at the Cedar House Inn, we decided to dash to the Lightner Museum between rain clouds and grab the photos that Kelly really wanted.  Ian was watching the radar map of heavy weather on the cell phone as we hurried along the wet streets.  We worked quickly and efficiently taking those images that would become their heirlooms when all of the sudden the thunder rumbled and the rain pelted down.  As we scooped up the bouquet, the cameras, and the bags, I fully expected to hear Kelly near tears as the rain splattered her dress, hair and make-up.  But, instead, all I heard was the laughter and the love as they jumped the puddles heading back to the Inn.

Cyndi, always the thoughtful Innkeeper, had towels waiting and flutes of champagne.  So what did Kelly and David do next?  Smile, toast to their love, and delight in the memories being made on their wedding day.

Enjoy…Robin

Kelly’s lovely dress is from Jessica McClintock and her bouquet is from the Conservatorie.  When I asked Kelly if the color blue was significant to her she said, “Yes, it’s the color of David’s eyes”….now that’s romantic!

Kelly’s make-up was done by the so, so talented Amanda Hopcraft.

Kelly and David had a lucky Irish coin with them – but, with all the rain they had they were overflowing with all kinds of good fortune.
